The other day, my 3 year old randomly announced to me, "My Dance, Mommy". He was wearing only a pull up and squatted, bent at the waist, put his head forward, and bounced...all while grinning like a mule eating briars. He was having a blast.

I sat there and thought to myself...at what point

Remember the little saying about girls being made of sugar and spice and everything nice and little boys are made of snips and snails and puppy dog tails?  I started thinking about my own definition of boys tonight and the curious things that they do because they are...well...boys.  Since I'm completely surrounded by peanuts, I'm a bit of an expert.

Both of my boys have been going through one of those phases…the Momma phase. I can’t cook dinner without holding my 12 month old on my hip and I can’t put on my makeup in the morning without both of my little ones in my lap.  While I try to peek at my face in my vanity mirror between bobbing heads in front of me, my two year old makes faces at himself and licks the mirror. Why does he do that?...

By the end of the 90 minute terror of rounding kids up, getting them dressed, fed, and out the door to (two different) day cares, I feel like I’ve been attempting to herd cats every morning. I then wonder where I’m going to get the energy to be a good employee because I feel like I just don’t have anything more to give. And it’s only 8 am! I enjoy the ...

I have done a series of posts called "Things I have Learned". They encompass things that I have learned as a mother as well as things that my two precious boys (2 and 1/2 years and a 12 month old) have learned. In turn, when they learn things...I learn also. Well, I mainly learn that a 2 year old will try 'X'. For example "Things I have learned: Mufflers are HOT!" That kind of thing.

 

I've been building a new blog post in my mind for some time now called Things the Grandparents have learned...so here goes....Part 1 (because I'm sure there will be more):

Let's face it. Kids generalize about things. For my 2 year old, everything with a mustache is Papa. I say "everything" because this includes otters. I discovered a new generalization that my sweet little one has about beards today.
