What was I THINKING?
03/04/2011The other night in the midst of a “night alone” with the kids I began to rudely ask myself the question only some of us will admit we’ve asked – WHAT IN THE WORLD PROVOKED ME TO HAVE TWO KIDS?! As fast as the question came to, I knew the answer. And because my answer – I mean, answers – were so profound and even tear-jerking, I did not feel guilty for questioning myself. I mean, when you are asked a question and can quickly give a satisfactory answer, you are generally confident in yourself and the decisiveness of it. So what lead me? Why would I; Why would we want two kids?
Because as difficult as bath times two, homework times two, wrestle-mania times two can be, you get to experience all the joy times two. It’s this joy that I am envious of when I hear of others who get to experience it times three, four or more! You get to watch the loves of your life say his/her first words, take first steps and have that OH-MY-GOSH first bonding moment with shortly after birth. You get to feed a newborn – TWICE! Yes, you may be the last one to fix your plate, eat dinner in a restaurant and have toys float beside you in your first relaxing bath in years. But you get to watch your first-born child grow up with his best friend by his side. Yes, bathing two LOUD boys may be the last thing you want to do on a rainy Monday night when your husband is working late yet again. But later as those little devil-angels fall asleep beside you, you begin to realize that your life is blessed beyond means – TIMES TWO!!!
